Nutritive elements of the diet

Nutrition is the provision, to cells and organisms, of the materials necessary to support life. Many common health problems can be prevented or alleviated with a healthy diet.

The fine and rough parts of eatables are called ‘Roughage’. Roughage does not digest with food and therefore, it is not observed by our body. It helps in intestinal functions. Due to its presentation, faecal materials are not able to gather (accumulated) in intestines and comes out easily from the body that prevents constipation................................

Food is necessary for making our body healthy. It generates energy and heat in the body. Modern medical science has engaged in discovering about food for years. The food is varied in different places, countries, castes, sub-castes, etc. Practically, there are only two kinds of food accepted- vegetarian and non-vegetarian..............................

The main important element of food is protein. Its appropriate quantity in the food helps in the formation and repairing of body cells for the whole life. Protein includes carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen and sulphur. Phosphorus can also found in it. Nitrogen is present in enough quantity in protein. There are two types of protein- protein obtained from animal and protein obtained from fruits, vegetables and grains, etc............................

Fat:

Fat helps in making the body active. It is obtained from both animal and plants. It provides energy for daily works. It is also called powerful fuel. For a healthy person, taking 100 g fat daily is very important. It does not able to digest easily. It is very necessary to fulfill the requirement of protein in the body. Increasing fat level in the body is good for health. ...........................

Water is the chief and important factor of our food. In human body, about 17% water is found in childhood and 60% water is found in old age. Water is present in between cells and found in the form of plasma in blood, intestinal juice, secretion of the lymph, liver and bacterias..............................

Carbohydrate is the main source of providing energy in the body. It acts like fat for providing energy and heat to the body. Carbohydrate is digested easily comparison to fat. The body gets carbohydrates as two form- starch and sugar. Carbohydrates found in wheat, maize, millets, barley, big grains, rice, pulses, roots vegetables, etc. is called starch.
